A Little About Myself
My Story
Hi, my name is Becky Willetts of 'Becky's House Childminding' and I live in Stourport On Severn with my husband Andy (a Health and Safety Manager), daughter Sofia (born 2011), son Jamie (born 2017) and our cat Purdy.
I am passionate about helping children to achieve the best they can in a safe, caring and fun environment. I believe it is important to encourage children to learn through play by being curious and 'investigate' for themselves in a hands on way giving the opportunity for adult input to promote their ideas, imaginations and their learning.
I believe the development of your child and the educational aspect of attending my setting are very important but at the same time I hope for children in my care to feel like 'part of the family' and
enjoy a less formal, homely atmosphere then for example in a larger nursery setting

Experience and Qualifications
As well as being a mummy myself, I am experienced of working with children in the Early Years & KS1. I began my career as a Teaching Assistant in 1996 and worked my way up to HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant Status) and Manager of the after school club. I worked at the same school in Wiltshire (where I originate from) until 2009 when I moved to the West Midlands with my husband . I then worked as a Teaching Assistant and HLTA in the Foundation Stage Unit and in Years One and Two at a primary school in Oldbury. I left my career of 23 years in 2019 to spend more time with my son and daughter and with the intention of starting my own childminding business as the Early Years have always been very important to me.
I hold several child care and education qualifications including my Early Years Foundation Degree (Bath Spa University Pass with Merit), NVQ 3 in Early Years and Education and my HLTA Status. I have attended the Worcestershire Pathway to Childminding Registration training and have Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene Level 2 certificates. I am always keen to keep my knowledge up to date and refreshed and I am a member of Pacey where I have access to a variety of updated training and information regarding the Early Years field.
The Setting
We live in a three-bedroom semi-detached house in Stourport On Severn. We have an extension which is now a playroom for the children as well as a downstairs bathroom and access to the garden. The garden has a mixture of astro-turf, flower bed and patio areas. We have a large selection of toys including a slide, sandpit, water-play, digging area, mud kitchen, 'junk' building and outdoor toys such as ride ons and scooters. Indoors there are a wide range of toys and activities such as cars, trains, dolls, painting, crafts, cooking and role play. We are very fortunate to live two minutes’ walk from Hartlebury Common and close to canals, rivers, play parks and forest areas. I drive and have business insurance to use the car for the school run and activities further away.
